But he admits there were times when he worried.“You always do,” Seager said. “You always wonder how it’s going to be, how you’re going to react. But once you get back out there and get in the flow of things that comes back.”INJURY NEWSDodgers outfielder Joc Pederson left Saturday’s game in the eighth inning after being thrown out at home plate trying to score on a wild pitch. Pederson would not have been in the starting lineup against left-hander Madison Bumgarner Sunday regardless. But Roberts said Pederson was dealing with a sore back after the game.Related Articles Dodgers’ Max Muncy trying to work his way out of slow start How Dodgers pitcher Ross Stripling topped the baseball podcast empire Fire danger is on Dave Roberts’ mind as Dodgers head to San Francisco SAN FRANCISCO – As a coach on the Angels staff, Dino Ebel admired what he saw of Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager.“For me when I saw him from the other side, he was a good-looking shortstop, great defender, good hands,” Ebel recalled. That was not really the player Ebel began working with this spring in his first year on the Dodgers’ coaching staff. Seager was returning from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow and arthroscopic surgery on his left hip. He and Ebel went through a long progression this spring. It was usually Ebel who hit ground balls to Seager during his carefully-monitored workouts (down to the number of ground balls Seager could field daily) – first only straight at him then slowly side to side. But Seager’s full range has returned and his post-surgery defense has been easier to recover than his swing (which has returned over the past month). Easier timing, you know what I mean?” Seager said. “You just have to be on the ground when the ball is crossing the plate (on defense) more than the timing and rhythm at the plate. It’s definitely an easier thing to come back to, for sure.”With all the attention on Seager returning to his offensive form, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says “it shouldn’t be underappreciated what he’s doing out there defensively” at shortstop.“I think a lot of it has to do with his body composition, the way his body is moving,” Roberts said. “Even in ’16 I don’t think he looked like this as far as where his body was at. Obviously he had the hip issue. Even talking to Corey he’s really never felt this good as far as the way his body moving. So now you layer that in with his ability to lock in on pitches, be in the right spots … this is really, really impressive defense.”Roberts acknowledged the challenge was greater offensively when Seager returned after missing most of last season.“I think it’s much easier on the defensive side,” he said. “Granted there’s a timing issue with defense too. But the body allowing him to get in position to make the plays that he needs to make, to make throws – you watch the way his feet are moving, the backhand play … his legs and body are allowing him to make the plays.”
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel (99) is introduced before the start of an NFL preseason football game against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 in Pittsburgh. It was Keisel’s first game this pre-season, since re-signing with the Steelers. The Panthers won 10-0. (AP Photo/Gene Puskar)The Steelers enter the 2014 season coming off of two consecutive 8-8 seasons. While last year the Steelers nearly slipped into the playoffs after finishing the season strong; the black and gold don’t want to put themselves in a position where they need to rely on other teams to help them in. The 0-4 start they had to last season clearly dug a hole too big to get out of.To open this season, they take on the in division rival Browns. The Browns should be improved and have an entire new coaching staff to help rebuild the once proud franchise. They drafted Johnny Manziel and expect big things out of him down the line. They’ll certainly miss Josh Gordon this season and in the end this is a team the Steelers should and need to beat if they want to consider themselves a threat to win the division. Here are the Keys to A Steelers Victory:1. The black and gold need to come out strong. They need to avoid early mistakes like turnovers and penalties and move the ball down the field effectively, utilizing the no huddle offense that Big Ben loves so much.2. Even with the no huddle offense, they need to run a balanced attack. LeVeon Bell and to a lesser degree LaGarrete Blount need to put up the yardage needed to control the clock and keep the defense honest. Bell should go for at least 100 yards in order for the ground attack to be effective enough.3. The defense needs to rattle Brian Hoyer. Hoyer will already be looking over his shoulder at Johnny Football and will be prone to making mistakes because he’ll be trying so hard not to make one. The defense needs to pound Hoyer into the ground and deflate his confidence early and often.4. They can’t let the Browns hang around. The worst thing the team can do is let a mediocre Browns team hang around and keep their confidence. If the Steelers can get up big early, they should be able to coast to an easy win. Here are a Few Things to Watch:1.Ryan Shazier-Shazier will be on the third linebacker in Steeler history to start a season opener as a rookie, joining Jack Lambert and Kendrell Bell. Shazier, the teams number one draft pick in May, appears to be the real deal. Look for him to make big plays in clutch situations.2. Markus Wheaton-Wheaton enters his second season as the number two starting receiver. Wheaton only netted six catches in his rookie year but the team expects big things out of him in year two. It will be interesting to see if he’s up for the challenge or if he’ll let Lance Moore or even Martavis Bryant pass him up.3. Dri Archer-Archer is another rookie who may be a big impact guy. He’ll see a lot of action out of the slot and as a third down back. He has the potential to be a special teams ace and is a true burner. Speed kills and he’s got a lot of it.4. Big Ben-He’s the leader of this team, the heart and soul. He is not going to want to start the season off like they did last year and he’s going to be instrumental in the development and growth of all the young talent on the offensive side of the ball. Watch how much of a leader he’s become.Mike Pelaia hosts the website Steel Nation Association www.steelnationassociation.com- Covering the Steelers and helping Children’s Hospital All Day Everyday. Former England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said it was a bit too soon for him to start his managerial career after rejecting the opportunity to replace Karl Robinson at third tier side Milton Keynes Dons. The 36-year-old midfielder, who is leaving MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, moved away from Liverpool in 2015 after making 710 appearances in 17 years for the Merseyside club, during which he won eight trophies.”I’m just taking a bit of time to consider what’s next, exciting times moving forward,” Gerrard, who is England’s fourth most-capped player, told BT Sport.”I spoke to MK Dons. I had a chat with the chairman, it’s a very exciting job for somebody else but it’s a bit soon for me. But it’s true, I did speak to them.”The British media has linked Gerrard, who is currently working towards his UEFA A coaching licence – the second-highest qualification available – with moves to Celtic and Newcastle United, as well as a return to Anfield as part of the coaching team.

Tokyo: Crisis-hit Japanese car company Nissan on Tuesday unveiled net profits at a near-decade low as it battles to recover after the shock arrest of its talismanic former boss Carlos Ghosn. Net profits for the fiscal year to March 2019 came in at 319 billion yen ($2.9 billion), the lowest since 2009/10 when the company was struggling in the wake of the global financial crisis. It was a decline of 57 per cent compared to the previous fiscal year and the profit outlook for the current fiscal year was forecast to be even worse — at 170 billion yen.
