VALENCIA – An informational meeting will be held Wednesday at College of the Canyons for students considering pursuing a special education credential through California State University, Bakersfield. The session will be held at 5 p.m. in the University Center on campus, 26455 N. Rockwell Canyon Road. It will cover admission requirements, prerequisites and scheduling for the program, which is slated to begin in January. Students must attend this session if they missed the one held in October. A mandatory orientation will be held at a date to be determined. The two-year, part-time program provides a credential and master’s degree in dealing with mild and moderate disabilities and is accredited by NCATE and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. NCATE accreditation is a mark of distinction and provides recognition that the college of education has met national professional standards for the preparation of teachers. last_img read more
